CBSE Revises Class X, XII Board Exam Pattern


The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made changes to the board exam pattern for class X and XII. Based on its new guidelines for the board exams, students will get more multiple-choice questions next year in 2024. The new changes in the boards have been made keeping in mind the recommendations of the NEP 2020.

Based on the new guidelines, CBSE will be adding 20% of MCQ based questions for classes IX, X, XI and XII from the academic session of 2023 to 24. In case of classes IX and X, CBSE will be increasing the weightage of the competency-based questions asked. For the Board exams of 2024, around 50% of the questions would be MCQ based. The competency-based questions will be asked in the form of MCQs, case study based or source-based questions. For classes XI and XII, for board exams 2024, the competency-based questions would comprise 40% of the paper.cbse
