Modern Integration Theory

Any book on mathematics is a labour of love. This book by Dr. Anil A. Pedgaonkar, Head, Department of Mathematics at the post-graduate Institute of Science, Mumbai (India) belongs to such a category. This work deals with a new approach to integration which can be used for a course for final year Mathematics majors. This can be continued as a graduate level course. The book introduces Henstock-Kurzweil integral in an axiomatic setup. Henstock-Kurzweil integral is a simple yet powerful modification of the notion of Riemann integral.

This book covers in depth the theory and practice of the topic. Computer programs in C language provide a valuable insight into the theory of what is otherwise a complex topic. Dr Pedgaonkar has done justice in explaining the topic in a simple and lucid language. This should be a compulsory reading material for students of mathematics.
